Common sage (Salvia officinalis), also known as garden sage, kitchen sage or medicinal sage, is a plant species from the genus Salvia. This evergreen spice and medicinal plant originates from the Mediterranean region, but is now cultivated throughout Europe.
Its healing properties are numerous: antiseptic, antibiotic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. In addition to its soothing effect on sore throats and throat infections, sage is also used for digestive problems and inflamed gums.
